Spelling Spoofs, Grammar Goofs, and Other Oddities. One afternoon I was walking down the street and happened to glance at the fruit displayed in a small market. To my amazement and amusement, I saw one of the delicious items misspelled. I kept looking and found another hilarious error. The thought came to me that a collection of Spelling Spoofs, Grammar Goofs, and Other Oddities would make a funny, uplifting book. For approximately 3 years, I wandered around the city, camera in hand, or in a car, with the ever-present hope and desire to find more hilarious cameos to share with the world. What I discovered was that no matter where I went, I found them. From multi-million dollar corporations to "mom and pop" operations, unusually funny errors of omission and commission abound. At times, I felt like a spy, for it seemed that people did not like strangers taking pictures of their signs, or anything else, even if it was on the street, in the public domain. They got very defensive! They chased me down the street and into my car! I had to develop alibis for my picture-taking. "Insurance" became the phrase that saved my scalp, and the rest of me! In retrospect, it was worth the effort. I hope this collection gives you as many laughs as it still gives me. At least you won't have to run after you've seen them.
